From keynotes to workshops, I’ll have you laughing, learning, and leaning into your most authentic, unapologetic self.
I am Dr. Carleah East, a dynamic clinical psychotherapist, licensed mental health counselor, life-purpose coach, motivational speaker, author, and professor. As the founding CEO of SMILE Psychology, a private practice where science meets soul, I empower clients to overcome anxiety, heal from trauma, rediscover hope, and cultivate happy, purposeful lives. I take a no-nonsense, straight-shooting, yet compassionate approach to help others transform their lives.
I am also the founder of Sapphire Woman Pathways, an organization I created to support women impacted by incarceration. Through fundraising initiatives, we provide essential support like food, clothing, and toiletries, helping to meet their basic needs and restore dignity. My goal is to offer immediate relief while empowering these women to rebuild their confidence, foster self-efficacy, and transition toward stable and empowered futures.
For 15 years, I’ve been a psychology professor at St. Petersburg College, where I engage students with my expertise, relatable teaching style, and dedication to fostering understanding in the field of psychology. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Central Florida, a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling from Argosy University, and a Ph.D. in General Psychology from Capella University. Additionally, I am professionally certified in Suicide Intervention and Mental Health First Aid.
As a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, I’ve also authored two transformative books: The Hangover: Overcoming Emotional Addiction and Don’t Wait for Love, Become L.O.V.E. My expertise has led me to serve as a clinical correspondent for BayNews 9 and Channel 10 News, where I provide clarity and insight on mental health issues.
Through my platform, Dr. East SPEAKS, I deliver keynote addresses, life-purpose coaching, professional development seminars, and community-based workshops, including my signature Wine & Wisdom events. These gatherings are designed to spark meaningful conversations and connections on topics like mental health, relationships, and personal growth.
I focus on “redefining resiliency,” inspiring women to embrace authenticity, reclaim their power, and navigate life’s challenges with confidence. Known for my humor and authenticity, I aim to inspire others to reclaim their power, embrace their truth, and design a life aligned with their destiny.
To help you break free from the BS that’s holding you back and step into your power—whether that’s in the therapy room, at one of my dynamic events, or just in your everyday life. I’m here to guide you to embrace authenticity, redefine resilience, and live a life that’s unapologetically yours.
I’m not just bringing sass and wisdom—I’ve got the credentials to back it up. I hold a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Ph.D. in General Psychology, and I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Licensed Supervisor. With over 20 years of experience as a highly sought-after and respected Clinical Psychotherapist, Speaker and over 15 years’ experience as a Psychology Professor I don’t just talk the talk—I walk it. From the therapy room to the keynote stage, I’ve dedicated my career to helping women redefine resilience and embrace authenticity. I’m not just about theories and textbooks (though trust me, I know those too)—I’m about action, growth, and transformation. Whether I’m guiding you through life’s challenges in a therapy session or firing up a crowd at one of my Wine & Wisdom events, you can count on me to deliver insights with clarity, compassion, and just the right amount of sass.
